Stoneware, glaze
Inspired by the enclosing forms of seed pods, Holding explores the relationship between a protective outer form and the space within. Its compact, softly faceted profile and gently uneven rim retain the traces of making. A restrained ochre glaze follows the surface and reveals subtle variations in the hand-shaped form.
Made in my studio on Ishigaki Island, Japan.
